Looking for a fun, creative after-school activity for your child? Our 5-Week Elements of Art Class Series introduces elementary school kids in Olathe, Colorado, to the basics of visual art.
This hands-on program turns the basics of art into fun, interactive weekly projects. With supportive instruction, students build confidence, develop fine motor skills, and discover their own creative style.
Weekly Curriculum Overview
Our 5-part art program guides kids through a hands-on exploration of how art is made:
- Week 1: Line & Shape (The Building Blocks) – Students see how a simple line becomes a shape as they create colorful, imaginative geometric designs.
- Week 2: Color (The Magic of the Rainbow) – Kids get an introduction to color theory and experiment with mixing primary and secondary colors to create their own palettes.
- Week 3: Value (Lights & Darks) – Young artists explore shading, highlights, and contrast to make their drawings stand out.
- Week 4: Texture & Form (Art You Can Feel) – We explore 3D art by using different materials to create textures and sculptural forms.
- Week 5: Space (The Big Picture) – Kids learn about perspective, overlapping, and how to create depth in landscapes and cityscapes.
- Week 6: Parents’ Day - Come and see what your kids have been up to for the last five weeks and learn about the elements of art!
